On March 5, 2022 (Saturday), artist Wei Ligang participated in a symposium held by the Zhi Art Museum at the UCCA Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing and witnessed the release of his new catalog Taking Chinese Characters as a Starting Point, How Can Calligraphy Illustrate Universality.

 

Wei Ligang: Taking Chinese Characters as a Starting Point, How Can Calligraphy Illustrate Universality is an academic graphic classic for artist case studies launched by the Zhi Art Museum. The catalog includes Wei Ligang’s 58 works, covering the artist's creative activities spanning more than 30 years, and bringing together academic articles written by Bai Qianshen, Dean of the School of Art and Archaeology, Zhejiang University, Mael Bellec, Curator of the Asian Art Museum of Cernucci, Paris, France, Chai Zhongjian, academic advisor of the Zhi Art Museum, Fan Di'an, Dean of the Central Academy of Fine Arts, and Maya Kóvskaya, Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley.
