As the Bodhisattva follows his straightforward mind, he can initiate action.
As he follows his actions, he attains a profound mind.
As he follows his profound mind, his thoughts are brought under control.
As his thoughts are controlled, he acts in accordance with the Dharma.
As he acts in accordance with the Dharma, he can dedicate his merits.
As he dedicates his merits, he gains expedient means (upaya).
As he gains expedient means, he brings living beings to maturity.
As he brings living beings to maturity, his Buddha-land becomes pure.
As his Buddha-land becomes pure, his teaching of the Dharma is pure.
As his teaching of the Dharma is pure, his wisdom is pure.
As his wisdom is pure, his mind is pure.
As his mind is pure, all his merits are pure.
Therefore, Ratnakuta! If a Bodhisattva wishes to attain a pure Buddha-land, he should purify his mind. When the mind is pure, the Buddha-land is pure.
