From September 30 to November 15, 2026, artist Wang Shaoqiang’s Elegant Gathering: Hanok will be presented as part of Resonance Field, the 8th Changwon Sculpture Biennale.
Wang Shaoqiang has dedicated himself to the in-depth study of Eastern philosophy and views of nature, as well as the contemporary transformation of traditional Chinese culture, in pursuit of making conceptual and methodological breakthroughs. Underpinned by his perceptions of the development of Chinese and Western art and the observations of the current artistic ecology, he is a master at both ancient and contemporary Chinese and Western art. He has incorporated contemporary thinking and creative visions into the reconstruction of traditional cultural contexts. Out of the respect for and the proficiency in Chinese ink and paper materials, he could integrate his personal sentiments with artistic creations, thereby generating unique and distinctive visual logic, contemporary vision and dimension of art.
The Changwon Sculpture Biennale 2026, Resonance Field, will take place across Changwon, South Korea, from September 30 to November 15, 2026.
Bringing together 74 participating teams comprising 81 artists from cities and regions around the world, the biennale explores the possibilities of resonance through sculpture: how distinct beings encounter one another, form relationships, and open themselves to the possibility of mutual transformation.
